After four seasons and 48 episodes, paranormal series Destination Fear has been axed by Warner Bros. Discovery.
There has been speculation for some time now whether Destination Fear, among other paranormal TV shows in the discovery+ portfolio would get renewed for more seasons since the announcement of a Warner Bros. and Discovery merger in April last year. Unfortunately, in the last few weeks it was confirmed that discovery+ paranormal shows; Portals To Hell and Ghost Brothers weren’t getting new seasons because of this.
So, where does this leave Destination Fear? Well, Dakota and Chelsea Laden, Tanner Wiseman and Alex Schroeder took to social media today to confirm the news the ‘DFAM’ had been dreading for a while. “Destination Fear has been cancelled” …or has it?
In a YouTube video titled “Destination Fear Cancelled For This Reason!” Dakota and the team reminisce some of the Destination Fear highlights from seasons gone by. But as we’re wiping away our tears and remembering those past episodes and experiences; Enter Chelsea Laden who says “we’re not done yet, we’ve got more gas in our tank…” – Introducing Project Fear; a brand new project, a Kickstarter campaign setup by Dakota.
Project Fear is the is a familiar road trip and overnight experience, but with NO LIMITATIONS because we are bringing this to YouTube. Our plan is to keep it as similar to the show as we can: a long road trip with back-to-back locations, keeping each other in the dark with our location choices, and of course everyone’s favorite-the end of the night hat-draw to determine where each of us will be SLEEPING ALONE.
This new journey will open the door to many more possibilities. With no network affiliation, we will have complete control of every aspect of this production. We will be able to provide you the show that we have always wanted it to be! This means longer overnights, uncensored screams and raw emotions, not to mention the opportunity to bring along special guests, and to even get YOU, The D-Fam, involved in an overnight.
Within less than two hours of posting the campaign, they have superseded their first goal of $65k, which promises backers two seasons worth of road trips.
Now, as we’re currently writing this article, the campaign stands at a whopping $140k, that’s $5k more than the set goal of $135k, which is four seasons worth of road trips. The final goal is $200k, which assures backers four seasons worth of domestic road trips and an international road trip!
